Overview
The Chapel of Timios Prodromos is a small, country church located outside the village of Kato Drys in the midst of fields. It was built in the 12th century and can accommodate 15 people. The church is made of stone with simple tiles, and its back end has a Byzantine structure. Remains of the old church of John the Baptist, which was demolished, can be seen in the form of foundations and a wall. The interior of the chapel is simple and unassuming, and the icon dedicated to John the Baptist is a Renaissance piece, located in the "Panagia Eleousa" church. A liturgy is held in the church once or twice a year, and the faithful show great reverence for the Chapel. The Chapel celebrates on June 24th.
